February 2022: Nonexistent Vacation Reading

Although I packed 8 books, I did not read much at all during my February vacation. These are the handful I did manage to make it through.

Also, I readily admit, I moved *Tender Is the Flesh* up in my queue when I saw a photo of Chris Pine walking out of the bookstore with it. Pairs well with the Hulu Original movie “Fresh” with Sebastian Stan.

“There are residents in our lives, the ones who stay for years, and then there are the tourists just passing through. Sometimes it can be hard to tell the difference.”

— Alice Feeney, *Rock Paper Scissors*

📚⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

*Tender is the Flesh* by Agustina Bazterrica (F) // [Might make you physically ill—not for the faint of heart (/stomach).

📚⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

*Reckless Girls* by Rachel Hawkins (F) // [Mystery; thriller: Much better than *The Wife Upstairs* IMO. Fantastic beach/vacation/pool read with mysterious strangers and strong independent women out for revenge.]

*No Time Like the Future: An Optimist Considers Mortality* by Michael J. Fox (NF) // [Memoir; health: Heartbreaking and endearing. “With gratitude, optimism becomes sustainable.”]

*Rock Paper Scissors* by Alice Feeney (F) // [Thriller; mystery: My favorite Feeney is still *Sometimes I Lie,* this was still fun, twisty, and atmospheric though.]

📚⭐️⭐️⭐️

*World Travel: An Irreverent Guide* by Anthony Bourdain & Laurie Woolever (NF) // [Travel; memoir: Not actually written by Bourdain, but his assistant and reads like a dry list of facts. My expectations were way too high.]
